After deadline, register and vote in-person with 2 forms of ID

  • Voters may go online to register for the first time or file an address change or name change. The online system will be open through 11:59 p.m. on Tues., Feb. 16. Voters must have a valid Illinois driver’s license or state ID to use the online system.

  • The mail-in form is available at chicagoelections.com. This form will be accepted and processed if postmarked on or before Feb. 16.

  • The Chicago Election Board will provide special hours for last-minute, in-person voter registration from 8 a.m. thru11:59 p.m. on Tues., Feb. 16at 69 W. Washington St.

  • After Feb. 16, in-person registration will be available at all early voting locations and on election day at your local precinct polling place.  Registering in-person requires (1) being ready to vote during the same visit and (2) two forms of ID, at least one of which shows your current address. Acceptable forms of IDare listed at chicagoelections.com

  • NOTE: 17-year-olds who will turn 18 by Nov. 8, 2016 are eligible to register and vote NOW in the March 15 Primary, even if they won’t yet be 18 on the date of the Primary.

 

To register to vote, a person must be: a U.S. citizen; at least 18 years of age by Nov. 8, 2016; and be a resident of the precinct at least 30 days before the election.

Chicago voters who already are registered at their current addresses need not act.  Voters may verify their registration status by using the Election Board’s “Your Voter Information” system at chicagoelections.com.
