Representing the U.S. Central region, Clear Ridge crushed Puerto Rico Tuesday night 11-1 to move on to the semifinal round of the World Series tournament in Bangor, Maine.
Clear Ridge pitcher Zach Verta allowed three hits and a run in 4⅓ innings, according to the Bangor Daily News. Verta walked one and struck out five before reliever Julian Lopez retired the last two batters in the 10-run rule contest.
The team is now 3-0 in tournament play with wins over Australia and Spain.
Clear Ridge played Thursday.
Senior League Baseball is a Little League division for players ages 13-16. Little League started the division in 1961 to allow kids to continue playing beyond the traditional structure of Little League, which began at age 9 and ended at 12.
